“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4 NKJV
Who could give you the confidence to walk through the darkest valley without fear of danger or evil?
God is like a shepherd who watches over his flock and protects them from harm and danger. David described his experience of walking through a valley with death around him, but he was without fear. He was confident because of God being his protector who carried a rod and staff which gave him comfort.
A shepherd’s rod is used as a weapon to defend off the animals from attacking the sheep. A staff is used to guide the sheep away from danger as well as pull them away. So, we could either be guided or snatched out of danger. I guess it depends on how stubborn we are.
We do have to be willing to let God be our Protector. Us, being like sheep, can be stubborn at times. We want to do things the way we want to do it. And God will let us go out there and bump our heads and learn the hard way, too. LOL. I can laugh now, but I wasn’t laughing then when I was in trouble for being stubborn. But by His grace, I am not where I used to be.
“I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalms 16:8
My sister, my brother, I want to encourage you to allow God to be your Protector. He is Alpha and Omega. He saw the beginning of your journey before you were conceived and He knows how it’s going to end. Why not trust the One who knows the plans He has for you. and they most definitely are not of evil, but of hope, and an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 God desires the best for you, but you have to be willing to bow down to His plans and His way.
