“He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.” Psalms 23:2 HCSB
This one scripture is saying a lot to me right now as I type this blog. God lets me lie down in green pastures not dry pastures. Green pastures that are vibrantly producing enough for me to lie down and just chill and eat with no worry.
When you see a well-kept, green yard that had been freshly cut with a lawn mower, what do you think?
I think of the greenness of the grass, how pretty it looks, how well it has been kept, and the soil that is producing the grass. It must have some good soil to produce such green grass. Because I’ve seen brown grass, yellow grass, or no grass, just dirt.
Would you want to lie on that kind of pasture? I hope not. Okay, to get to my point, God want us to lie on the best, receive the best He has to offer, and not only that, eat from the goodness of the land.
King James Version states, “He makes me lie down in green pastures.” Which is saying to me, God makes sure I am eating from the goodness of the land. All I have to do is allow Him to be the driver, per se, I don’t always have to be in control of my destination. God is going to make sure I land where I’m supposed to land. And another point to make is God will withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly.
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalms 84:11 NKJV
The second part of the scripture states, “God leads me beside quiet waters.” Thank you God for still waters. Which brings me to say, God won’t lead you to the water that has strong currents that could take you under and drown you. He leads you to the still waters that are calm, peaceful, and not a hazard to your well-being. God is good.
If only we could be intentional about who we allow to lead us because everyone who say, follow me, does not mean they are leading you to still waters and green pastures. I’m just saying, be careful who you allow to lead you.
My sister, my brother, I want to encourage you to allow God to be your resting place. A place where He is the only Leader in your life. He will not withhold the goods from you and neither will He lead you to places of confusion, danger, and worry. God loves you and cares about you.
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.“ 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
