“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26 NKJV
As I sat there and watched the news on CNN about Trump threatening to cut federal funding in education and DeVos demanding schools to reopen without distance learning, I began to get upset. But I quickly demolished the emotion and thoughts behind it.
“Teach us what we shall say to him; we cannot draw up our case because of darkness.” Job 37:19 NKJV
I had to because when I get angry, it has an effect on everyone in my household. The last thing I wanted to do was cause discord, confusion, and anger in my house. I refused to have anything come against my place of peace. That even includes myself. I also didn’t want to bring my petition before God in the darkness of my anger. So, I began to pray, but words wouldn’t come out of my mouth. I thought to God and myself, Lord, Am I all prayed out? Is it even possible to be prayed out? or Am I too mad to pray?
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2 NKJV
But no matter how prayed out, silent, or mad I was, I couldn’t disregard the scriptures above. I must pray and intercede for all men, especially those in authority.
First, I prayed for the Lord to help me with my thoughts and anger. And then I prayed silently for those in leadership to stand up for that which is right and use wisdom when it comes to making decisions regarding our students and their education. There’s nothing more important than our student’s safety and health as well as parents’ peace of mind. In Jesus name. Amen.
