How to Tackle Worry

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

There is a quote by Erma Bombeck, ” Worry is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere.”

Worry gets you nowhere but it does cause other problems in your mind and body such as headaches, depression, irritability, stomachaches, fatigue, a spike in blood pressure, panic attacks, or any other problems. It is not good to worry all the time about things. It doesn’t do the body good mentally or physically.

According to Philippians the fourth chapter and sixth verse, we are not to worry about anything. And when we do, there are steps to take to tackle worrying and replace it with peace. For every negative you give up, you must have a positive to replace it. In this case, trade worry for peace. So, how do we do that?

  1. Pray about every single thing that revolves around you. God wants to hear about it. If it wasn’t so, why would First Peter the fifth chapter and seventh verse states, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Another word for worry is anxiety. When we become anxious, we should immediately pray or in other words, talk to God about it. The more you allow yourself to worry, the more room you give yourself to succumb to the problems that could invade the body and mind.
  2. As you are praying, tell God what it is you need from Him. If you need peace, request it. If you need help with anything that is happening in your life, request it. God is a present help when we are in trouble. Psalms 46:1
  3. Also, as you are praying, thank God for all He has done for you in the past. When you do this, you will remember the days of old when God brought you out of a situation. It is my prayer that you will believe that God will do it again.
  4. After you have done these three steps, THEN, the peace of God will overshadow you. Not only that, His peace will surpasses all understanding. His peace will also guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

My brother, my sister, worry not about the things you can’t control. Give it to God. Make your request known unto Him. Thank Him for what He has done before and saturate yourself in His peace. There is too much happening in the world, but the world can’t rob you of your peace, unless you allow it.
