God can be Your Leader

“He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.” Psalms 23:2 HCSB

This one scripture is saying a lot to me right now as I type this blog. God lets me lie down in green pastures not dry pastures. Green pastures that are vibrantly producing enough for me to lie down and just chill and eat with no worry.

When you see a well-kept, green yard that had been freshly cut with a lawn mower, what do you think?

I think of the greenness of the grass, how pretty it looks, how well it has been kept, and the soil that is producing the grass. It must have some good soil to produce such green grass. Because I’ve seen brown grass, yellow grass, or no grass, just dirt.

Would you want to lie on that kind of pasture? I hope not. Okay, to get to my point, God want us to lie on the best, receive the best He has to offer, and not only that, eat from the goodness of the land.

King James Version states, “He makes me lie down in green pastures.” Which is saying to me, God makes sure I am eating from the goodness of the land. All I have to do is allow Him to be the driver, per se, I don’t always have to be in control of my destination. God is going to make sure I land where I’m supposed to land. And another point to make is God will withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly.

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalms 84:11 NKJV

The second part of the scripture states, “God leads me beside quiet waters.” Thank you God for still waters. Which brings me to say, God won’t lead you to the water that has strong currents that could take you under and drown you. He leads you to the still waters that are calm, peaceful, and not a hazard to your well-being. God is good.

If only we could be intentional about who we allow to lead us because everyone who say, follow me, does not mean they are leading you to still waters and green pastures. I’m just saying, be careful who you allow to lead you.

My sister, my brother, I want to encourage you to allow God to be your resting place. A place where He is the only Leader in your life. He will not withhold the goods from you and neither will He lead you to places of confusion, danger, and worry. God loves you and cares about you.

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT

You shall Lack Nothing

“The Lord is my Shepherd; there is nothing I lack.” Psalms 23:1 HCSB

Do you have confidence in God that He will meet all your needs during this season of the pandemic and lack of employment?

David knew, not by what he heard, but by experience who the Lord was to him. And he declared the Lord was his shepherd and he will want for nothing.

Philippians, the 4th chapter and 19th verse states, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Matthew, the 6th chapter and verses 31 and 32 states, “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.”

God knows your needs before you even ask. I’ve learned this week, that God will also meet your needs through His people. I will admit I don’t like to ask people for help. I’ve always went to my Abba Father for whatever I needed. Some would say this is called pride but something happened this week that left me no choice but to ask for help. So, I denied my will and asked for help from the person who the Lord instructed me to asked. Lo, and behold, God blessed me with what I needed. And all I could do was cry and shout unto God for making a way in the wilderness for me.

My sister, my brother, I shared this to say there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for groceries, gas money, rent money, and etc. There are people and organizations placed on this earth to help. Seek God for what you need and ask Him how you should go about getting it. Be obedient in His instructions and watch God send an overflow you never thought could be possible.

Will you believe and have confidence in God to trust Him at His Word?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 ESV

Fear does not come from God

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

In Marianne Williamson’s book, “A Return to Love” she says: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

I love reading this quote by Marianne Williamson and it liberates me every time I read it. Why? Because I am a child of God and my deepest fear is that I am powerful beyond measure and it scares the crap out of me. I also know whose I am and the Greater that is within me won’t let me be small or afraid. So, I put on my big girl pants and tackle my fear and do what is required of me because I know my Abba Father is with me everywhere I go.

In case you’re asking, how do you tackle fear?

  1. Know that fear is an emotion. According to dictionary.com, the definition of fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. Emotions are a part of who you are as a living soul. Your emotions, will, and thoughts are the seat of your soul. You have a mind to think, a heart to feel, and a will to choose.
  2. Know that fear is not a fact. It is natural to feel afraid, but be mindful, it is just a feeling, not a fact.
  3. Be quick to defend yourself. When you know something is a lie, you are quick to defend it, aren’t you? It’s the same with fear, you have to be quick to defend yourself. And you do that with the Word of God for it is your weapon in a spiritual warfare. Yes, fear is a spiritual warfare. It is a tool the enemy use to keep you paralyze in the condition you are in and not move forward. For he knows the power that lies within you. He also knows that when you move, you liberate others to move. Find a scripture in the bible that quickens your spirit when you read it. My favorite scripture is the one above in red.
  4. Repeat that scripture until you believe it. Say it over and over until those nerves or cramps in your stomach leave. And breathe. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.

My sister, my brother, God did not give us the spirit of fear. He gave us love, power, and a sound mind. Rest in God’s love when you are afraid. Assure yourself that there lies power in you because of God. Depend on the wisdom of the Holy Spirit for sound judgment or sound mind.

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” 1 John 4:18

Lift up Your Heads, O’ ye People of God

“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah.” Psalms 24:7-10 KJV

Everytime I read this passage of scriptures, I shout praises unto God. I mean every single time I hear or read these scriptures. Hallelujah! I’m shouting now because these scriptures let me know I have no business holding my head down as if I am in defeat. Because I am not. And neither are you, people of God.

Psalms chapter 24 and verse 1 states, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness therof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” Our God has dominion over everything; the earth and every single thing belongs to Him, including the people. He is the Lord of lords and Host of hosts. There is none like Him and no God beside Him. Isaiah 45:5

Lift up your heads, people of God. We serve a mighty good God. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

Lift up your heads, people of God for He is strong and mighty. Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Ephesians 6:10 And let us give thanks unto God who gives us the victory through Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 15:57

Lift up your heads, people of God and let the King of glory come in. For it is through Him, anything is possible. Be encouraged, stay grounded in His Word, and keep your eyes looking forward and toward the hills from where your help comes from. You are daughters and sons of the Most High God. Your circumstances do not define who you are nor determine where you will land. All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 Not man’s purpose. Not your mother’s or father’s purpose. Not your boss’s purpose. But God’s purpose.

My sister, my brother, hold your head up. Worry not about the things of the world for greater is He that is within you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4

The Lord is on Your Side

“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Psalms 118:6 NKJV

If the thoughts or actions of man fear you, keep the above scripture hidden in your heart. Because man can do absolutely nothing FOR you. Their approval is not important and their validation is a void.

David had a reason to fear because of the haters who wanted him dead. But he didn’t allow that fear to fester. He found his refuge in God. He found his strength in the One who ordained him to be king. The One who helped him defeat Goliath. The One who restored and redeemed him when he sinned with Bathsheba and had her husband killed in battle.

God is the Only One who is good enough to fill every void in our lives and bring us victory through Jesus Christ. That’s the One who we need to fear or revere.

We spend so much time worrying about what people think of us and it doesn’t matter what you do or say, there will always be haters. Let them be who they are designed to be; your enemies that God wants to put under your footstool. They are the ones who will compel you to excellence. They are the ones who will push you further into your destiny. They are most defintely the ones who will elevate you in due season if you put your trust in God.

My sister, my brother, worry not about the naysayers or haters, God got you. He will perfect that which concerns you. Psalms 138:8
